The Mayia Exclusive Resort & Spa, a five-star hotel complex in Rhodes, beautifully embodies the essence of nature, particularly embracing the fluidity of water.
The principal architectural inspiration revolved around establishing a natural path, a connecting axis from the main building to the outdoor dining and entertainment zones leading to the beach. This pathway, reminiscent of a familiar corridor to summer visitors, is delineated by rectangular gates. The facilities gently recede, taking advantage of the sloping terrain affording captivating, unobstructed sea views.
The design harmonises solid white structures with permeable elements, creating a captivating interplay of light and shade. This interplay fosters a serene ambience, especially as dusk descends, transitioning into gentle, ambient lighting. The vast glass surfaces facing the sea seamlessly blend the exterior with the interior, ensuring an uninterrupted flow and a sense of continuity.
This architectural narrative finds its culmination in the interior expression of the earth element. Here, the Santorini PG160P bioclimatic pergolas take on a new form as wooden sculptural elements. Moreover, the outdoor space mirrors this narrative, flanking the area with cascading waterfalls on either side, while the central staircase, akin to a flowing stream, guides one toward the sea.
