In the Northeastern Aegean Sea, on the island of Lemnos, within a protected NATURA 2000 ecosystem, lies Surf Club Keros—one of the world’s premier destinations for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Designed by surfers for surfers, this venue is a model for the global surf community, blending modest luxury, comfort, and environmental respect with a deep connection to nature.
The architectural team of Minos Dougias and Vangelis Spathakis embraced these principles to create a modern hospitality space on Keros Beach. The project features luxury safari tents, a restaurant, a bar, and a water sports school, all integrated into the natural landscape.
The heart of Surf Club Keros is its 300-square-meter shaded communal area, where guests gather to start and end their day. This space, a hub of social interaction, offers a welcoming environment for meeting new friends, sharing experiences, enjoying meals and drinks, and relaxing from early morning until late at night.
To elevate the outdoor experience, the architects utilized the MYKONOS PG120P bioclimatic pergola alongside the CRETA PG120F and KOS PG120F fixed pergolas. This combination created a visually striking exterior and redefined the space’s functionality. By transferring key amenities like the breakfast buffet and bar to the outdoors, the design enhances the guest experience. The MYKONOS PG120P pergola, in particular, transforms the communal area: during the day, it provides shade and protection from the rising temperatures, while at night, the louvers open to reveal the starry sky and invite in the cool Aegean breezes. Finally, integrating the innovative ZIP Screen system into the pergola enhanced the shading efficiency of the covered area and created a distinct separation between the bar and the restaurant.
